What is the difference between the legal approval button and the approval button?
The legal approval button is actually a simplified process of the approval flows*. The legal approval can only be used in combination with a signing step as the approval flows can be a separate process.
With the approval steps, you can involve different departments in the approval process (e.g. Legal, Finance, etc).
The legal approval button involves 1 permanent person in the process, so that during the signing process it is always shown whether the document is approved by the permanent person or not.
How to set up the legal approval button? (This setting can only be done by an admin). Go to settings → marketplace → click on ‘configure integration’ below E-signing:

The next step is to choose the user that is going to be the legal approval.
Click on ‘edit’:
Toggle on the button ‘is legal’:
Now you can select the legal approval during a signing flow:
The document first needs to be approved before any signers receive the documents:
The legal approval will receive the following email:
Once approved the signers will receive the email to sign with the message that the document is approved:
If the legal approval was not involved in the process, the signers will receive a signing request email with the message ‘is validated:no’
